Why Membership & How Do I Join?

Why Membership?

Becoming a member of a local church is an important part of a Christian’s spiritual growth. While church membership does not save you, those who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord desire to follow Him and obey Him. Jesus established the church as a place where healthy relationships built on trust and accountability occur. Membership should not be an optional aspect of a Christian’s life, but an important aspect of their growth.

How Do I Join?

If you desire to join First Baptist:

  • Step 1 – Set up a meeting with the pastor. This is a great opportunity for the pastor to hear your testimony and for you to ask him questions.
  • Step 2 – Attend our Membership Matters Class. This class serves as a requirement for membership because it is a helpful orientation to the Mission, Values, Strategy, and Measures of First Baptist. This class helps all members understand our core beliefs as well as our Constitution, By-Laws, and our Church Covenant. All current members are encouraged to attend this class. Also, the class is open to anyone who desires more information about First Baptist. This class meets as needed at 9:45am Sunday mornings.
  • Step 3 – Present yourself for membership to the Church. After steps 1&2, we encourage you to come forward during the invitation give a brief testimony to the Church body about your decision. Afterward, the church will vote, making you an official part of our church family!

Everyone is welcome to attend our Membership class for informational purposes only; there is no requirement to commit to membership. Please contact us and schedule a meeting with the pastor.
