First Baptist is committed to reaching as many people as possible with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a group of people who know the grace of God in our own lives, First Baptist desires to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to all regardless of where they live. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Committing ourselves to this great commission, First Baptist follows the Acts 1:8 model:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Our Jerusalem: The Greater Scott City Area
We want everyone know about Jesus Christ. The doors to our building are open to all to hear of the life-changing message of Jesus. We want our community to come to us but we also are committed to going into our community. One of our main methods of reaching children in our community is through our Van Ministry. We collect box tops for our local school. We collect Prairie Farms caps for our local Crisis pregnancy center. We collect food for our local Food Pantry. We collect plastic lids to help our local Cub Scouts. There are many ways we show Christ’s love in our community.
Our Judea and Samaria: Southeast Missouri and North America
One of the main ways we share the good news of Jesus Christ is through the Cooperative Program. We are in friendly cooperation with the Cape Girardeau Baptist Association, the Missouri Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. Find out more about the Cooperative Program by watching the video below.
